Tuesday, 26th April 2016 brought good news to urban gospel group, Preachers, with the announcement of the interminable trio earning a nomination in the premiere Gospel Music Award ceremony in East Africa, Kenya.
The Groove Awards with Safaricom is the biggest award scheme in Eastern and Central Africa, which seeks to celebrate gospel musicians and other stakeholders across Africa. This year marks the 11th edition of the award scheme and the nominees were unveiled at a high profile red carpet event at the Kenya National Theatre on Tuesday, 26th April.
Preachers were nominated in the Western Africa Artiste of the Year category alongside some of Africa’s best gospel artistes, Frank Edwards (Nigeria), Nathaniel Bassey (Nigeria), Onos Brisibi (Nigeria), Sinach (Nigeria) and Tim Godfrey (Nigeria).
“We are overwhelmed at our nomination and in awe at how far God is taking our ministry, we are really thankful. It’s incredible we are the only gospel artistes to be chosen to represent Ghana and that’s really humbling. We are hopeful of winning this award and bringing it home” – Preachers.
The trio were billed in December 2015 to perform at one of Kenya’s biggest gospel concerts, Totally Sold Out Concert, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, which recorded a collection of the finest gospel artists from around the world. The sensational trio marveled the crowd with their performance of hit songs “Crazy”, “Meyi Waye” and “No Juju”.
